Medicare Advantage Plans
Medicare Advantage plans are designed to be “all in one” plans, covering hospitalization, doctor’s office visits, prescriptions, labs and diagnostic tests, plus other unique benefits that vary between plans and carriers, like eye exams and glasses, gym memberships, and transportation to and from medical appointments.
Medicare Supplement Plans
Medicare Supplement plans are primarily designed to offset some of the costs not covered by Medicare alone, and are considered secondary insurance. The plans are standardized, meaning that all benefits are uniform regardless of carrier. Premiums, however, will vary. Medicare Supplement plans do not require you to see doctors from any specific network, as long as the doctor you choose accepts Medicare. Medicare Supplement plans do not include prescription drug coverage, so they are typically paired with a Medicare Part D plan to cover medications.
Prescription Drug Plans
Prescription Drug Plans are the Part D of Medicare established to help cover the costs of prescription drugs. Part D is separate from Original Medicare Parts A and B, and can either be purchased by itself or bundled into a Medicare Advantage plan. Prescription Drug Plans are provided by private insurance carriers that are contracted by Medicare.
Final Expense Plans
Final Expense is a type of life insurance policy primarily intended to cover expenses incurred by loved ones at someone’s death, including funeral costs, taxes, and settling any remaining debts.
Covered California Individual and Family Plans
Covered California is the is the California run Health Exchange Marketplace where individuals can shop and compare the different plans offered by health care providers as well as check their eligibility for premium assistance to help reduce the cost of those plans.
